MENORCA-Where to stay?

Going to Menorca next year.

Having small children, which resorts on the Island would you recommend.

Also, which 4 or 5 star hotels have good feedback.

cheers

All resorts in Menorca are suitable for young children, the only busy areas I can think of are Ciutadela and Mahon and even they aren't that busy.

Hotel Victoria Playa in Santo Tomas is always well recommended, 2 lovely long beaches, close by hotels have great children's entertainment open to all. http://www.thomson.co.uk/destinations/europe/spain/minorca/santo-tomas/hotels/hotel-victoria-playa.html

It is possible to walk from there (longish walk though) to Son Bou which has the San Jaime apartments(sp) which has their own little waterpark with flumes etc, again open to anyone (just buy a drink and a sunbed) also has well recommended apartments .http://www.thomson.co.uk/destinations/europe/spain/minorca/son-bou/apartments/san-jaime-complex.html

These are both Thomson 3 star, surprisingly (should be more I reckon)

Also have a look at Cala Galdana and Arenal den Castell - and hire a car to see all the island.
  • We always go to Cala n bosch. It has a beautiful harbour with lots of lovely restaurants and a great place called the Goody Goody which is basically a kids paradise with bouncy castles, trampolines, mini golf, waterslides with pool, car track and does pretty nice food too. You pay once for the whole day for things like the bouncy castles and the waterslides but get a specific amount of time for trampolines. We have stayed in this resort for the last 3 years, last year staying at the Sol Falco which is a Flintstones themed hotel with great kids club (we went half-board here and it was great because you can decide whether to have breakfast and dinner or breakfast and lunch so if you wanted to eat out a couple of nights you could. Food was excellent. This year we stayed in the Paradise Club which is also really close to harbour and Goody Goody. Food was not quite as varied as last year but still very good. Both hotels are rated as 4 star. Our son is 8 years old now so definitely enjoyed the kids clubs. We always hire a car from the airport and drive to our resort - it is so easy as there is really only one major road through the island and all the resorts are well marked off the main road. It takes about 1 hour to drive from end to end. Hope this is of some help. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
  • Hi,

Cala'n Bosch is a great resort for families and is a little more upmarket so has some very nice hotels. I would personally recommend:

    Paradise Club
    Valentin Star
    Viva Mencorca

Playa de Muro beach is excellent for kids. It's just a stone's throw along the coast from Alcudia, and there is a water taxi/boat that will take you to alcudia several times a day to go shopping. Note the north of the island takes quite a while to get to (1h+) so take snacks and buy water (in the lounge) for the kids on the way.
