Rechargeable battery for Hoover

Sorry if this is in the wrong place.
How long would a rechargeable battery in a vacuum cleaner be expected to last?
The cleaner is a Hoover Freedom stick/handheld cleaner that was purchased only a year ago. Seems like I need to replace the battery pack and I can't believe how much they are.
Is it normal to last only a year?

It depends on the type of battery, how often it is used, and how it is charged.
Have you always followed the instructions for charging?"In the future, everyone will be rich for 15 minutes"0 -

Yes, followed charging instructions.
I wouldn't mind but it's more "occasional!" use such as stairs and quick Hoover round to tidy up.
The cheapest battery I found is £54 - the cleaner only cost £110.0 -

Try draining the battery completely then recharging. Do that a few times.
In normal use I would expect it to last much more than a year. I've got cordless diy power tools with batteries 10+ years old with batteries that aren't perfect but are still working.
I would contact Hoover.0 -

Can't drain the battery as it is fully charged (blue light) and will work for 30 seconds then shows red that battery needs charging.
If leave it a minute then it works and does the same.0 -

Thank you so much for link - sorted the issue out.
It wasn't the battery but the front roller that had hair around it. I had cleaned it previously but did it again and it now works.0
