Hit my moving car and drove off
Options
This evening in the dark on a busy roundabout coming off motorway someone obviously thought I wasn't moving fast enough and hit the back of my car, I pulled over to a safe place expecting them to follow but they quickly changed lanes, did a left and sped off.
My car looks ok but now I've opened the boot it won't shut so I can't lock it and will take to a garage tomorrow to assess. No one else stopped and I barely saw the vehicle never mind get a reg.
Will insurance company expect me to have informed the police?

Yes you should, unlikely anything will come of it though.0

Tough time for the plod. Saw loads of them on the way to work yesterday, ready and waiting to catch that Saxo doing 36 in a 30 zone. Too busy to be catching burglars and thieves though as a friend of mine recently found out.0

Only one about 5 years ago. That's not the point though is it? My friend was recently told to detain a burglar, which he actually did..... albeit by force. After an hour of waiting, the police phoned him and told him they were too busy to turn up and to let him go. They asked my friend to take the burglars ID. Of course, he's got none. Take his details?

Utterly useless, but dunna worry, MSE are pro plod so no surprise you're defending them. Just remember, you won't be so chuffed when it happens to you.0 -

"I think he has a knife, I have children in my home" - there in 2 minutes.0 -
"I think he has a knife, I have children in my home" - there in 2 minutes.
That is the key.
"I think they are grooming young children" works as well now.
The PR is in child protection, not saving the property we slave our whole lives to pay for.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

So my friend was expected to lie, to get the police to do their job? Telling Constable Dave, that a man was trying to burgle him was simply not enough?
I'll let him know, because burglaries are a regular occurrence in his area, so good chance it will happen again sometime in the future.

Personally I think I'd just move to somewhere better. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
