Ebay GSP arrived damaged in Spain

I packed a CD player well for delivery to Spain. It went to e-bay Global Distribution centre for further carriage to Spain. I insured it for the full amount . It arrived in Spain damaged. Does the insurance cover the full journey to Spain.?
EBay's response is for the buyer to request a refund and yet the whole postage was arranged through the. Ebay site (Siri?) At present I've not given a refund and await eBay's intervention.
Their initial response seems to imply Seller fault
I'll await arbitration. Anybody else had similar experiences?:money:

The insurance you took out covers it for delivery to the addressee to whom you sent it - i.e. the distribution centre - assuming it covers fragile electrical goods. Ebay's insurance will cover it to Spain, again assuming it is a risk they cover. The problem will be establishing where the damage occurred and thus which insurance is relevant (assuming it can be proven that the damage was caused by the courier and that it was adequately packaged).0

It seems that when an item arrives damaged via GSP the buyer is directed to open a return request (at least this is what happened on two GSP parcels I had problems with). If so it will direct you to the ebay Spain site but you can view it under returns in your account on the UK site. You need to refuse the return and it gives the option to hold the GSP responsible. I did this last year and the buyer got a full refund, kept the item and I got the hold released on my funds. In other words the GSP paid out as their terms are clear that when items arrive ok at the UK depot, they are then responsible if damage occurs. They do sometimes open and repackage parcels.0

be firm when you speak to ebay and remind them of their own terms and conditions:

For problems relating to items that have already left the shipping centre, you should refer the buyer to the eBay Money Back Guarantee, as you're no longer responsible for items not received or damaged in transit.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
