Landlord and Tenant Act

When NASA sent the Voyager missions to outer space they included examples of music and literature representing humankind. Later there was concern this would entice more advanced species to attack us.
They should have just sent a copy of the Landlord and Tenant Act since it would convince any advanced civilisation that there was no point in going to Earth if that was what the life forms there produced.
Odds and ends of things happening with my flat which means that I am need to go through the Landlord and Tenant Act.
Sorry rant over.

Are you saying it's a bad act? What aspects of it don't you like?
As a leaseholder, you would have less protection if it didn't exist.0 -
Go through it? - what does that mean?0

I can't even work out if you're the landlord or the tenant in this scenario. You might get more useful replies if you told us what the problem actually is.0

Fortunately there's more than one Landlord and Tenant Act.
That'll really confuse the attacking aliens.0 -
Legalese, like any technical jargon is very precise, but very subject specific and requires a certain amount of technical knowledge and education to understand what it is saying. You will find the same challenges in (for example) medical literature. It is not, nor is it intended to be, "plain English" for the layman.
However, I suspect the problem is not what it says, but that it doesn't say what you want it to say.0 -

I was trying to find out what information I was entitled to ask for about a cash call the Management Co has made for repair work which is not covered by a sinking fund.
I have just about worked out which parts of the Act and what they mean and the Welsh variation so not a problem that Paracetamol will not sort out.0 -

Agree but I have also just been through the Company's Act and that is very clear in comparison and yet I would have thought as complex.0 -

The Companies Act 2006 was drafted with "plain English" in mind. Compare it to the 1985 Act and you'll see. Standard CA06 forms have also doubled (or tripled) in length on account of being written so they're understandable to the layman compared to CA85 forms.
Technical queries relating to legislation won't help you here, as you're trying to resolve a commercial, not a legal issue.0 -
You delude yourself:. It's not just one LL & T Act, it's probably 100 Acts & regulations.0
