Currently unemployed, living with partner - not married, no children. Own a house (not where I'm living), partner is employed full-time.
JSA/UC not viable. What are my options for making NI contributions?

Depends how old you are and whether you expect to work in the future. Class 3 can be very good value particularly if you are near retirement age, much better than a SIPP say.0 -
Its only £741 pa unless you have paid in part year and not met the maximum amount within the past 6 years (I think)
You can check you individual contributions year by year and there is a helpline if you want to top up.
Don't forget the benefits of state pension (again you can check what you are eligible for and what the pension would be worth if you made the full 35 years full contributions)Debt is a symptom, solve the problem.0 -
I do understand the benefits, but from my current position, £700ish is quite a bit!
Still, needs must I suppose.0 -
how many years have you fully contributed?
Max is 35 years.
Are there any previous years you have not fully contributed and what do you need to contribute to be fully paid in each year?
search 'know my pension' and go to gov website, this will tell you the details you need to know.
You rent your house so I assume you have income to make contributions?Debt is a symptom, solve the problem.0 -

You can claim NI credits without claiming JSA.
Read the section under Non-claimants here.
