I'm looking to get my boyfriend a laptop for Christmas but don't have a big budget, he uses it to check emails, go online, for his business, photos, etc
Are there any good laptop's for under £150 please that anyone can recommend?
I have a chromebook but that doesn't have a OS so he wouldn't be able to do some things on one of those, files and pictures wise etc.
Thank you for any help.

Are any of these any good? I do want a decent one. Thanks.0 -
You want a decent one but dont want to spend much money, those laptops could be 6 or 7 years old.
I clicked one that was over your (big push) budget and its CPU was released May 2011. So thats what your buying. Are you based in Ireland? that company is.
Chromebook does have an OS its the Chrome OS. Why do you have issues with files and pictures?
Install the software you need to open them. I cant see why it would have issues with what he needs.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...1 -
For new this just fits the bill

Should be usable but limited space for music, pics, films, docs. If you have an existing external drive that would be one solution - or use a cloud service. If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -
I would recommend getting a second hand one. If you buy on CeX then they give you a 2 year warranty.
You can then get much more for your money. You will get peanuts in comparison for under £2000 -
I'd go for a decent second hand laptop like a Thinkpad for £200 over a low budget new one any day.0

I would recommend getting a second hand one.

Their own Black Friday sale is gone, but may start a Christmas sale ?
Business Model notebooks (Dell Latitude, Lenovo Thinkpad, HP Elitebook, Toshita Portege/Tecra) are far better quality, durablity than consumer models. Consumer model mouse pad is fairly awful; in a couple of years, mouse button would become less responsive. it won't happen with a business model.
Don't forget 2 upgrades, they are MUSTs
Upgrade Your hard disk : 120GB SSD £35
(SSD makes computer blazinly faster) Don't buy any hard disk (60 years old technology) computer at 2017!!
Memory upgrade : 4GB + £20
Warranty (option) + £25
I bought a HP elitebook from their ebay shop bofore, and I was quite impressed with the quality of the product and their service.
Recently I have helped a DELL latitude 6400 series notebook at my volunteer work. I really liked its sleek look and solid keyboard/mouse pad etc. They are much much better than any consumer models (Pavilion, Satellite, Inspiron etc)

All consumer grade tech is crap in my eyes. It's why I use an ex corporate desktop PC also. Solid and whisper quiet.0 -

How about this ? Black Friday discount is gone now, but they often do a promotion, if you are lucky, you would get the same spec around 200 pound ?
