CPMS Manchester parking charge for wrong bay

Hi all,
Thanks for all your help with my last ticket which I was able to get removed by complaining to my building management and letting agency.
This time what's happened is that I was parked at my friend's apartment building car park. Bay #10 is what my friend has allocated to her but there was a car parked in it so I used bay #12. My friend has a permit (with bay #10 written on it) that we usually display on my car but this time we forgot (I know, my bad).
Couple of hours later returned to a PCN from car park management services (cpms) ltd saying that I was "parked in someone else's allocated bay".
Having read the newbie thread I understand that I need to send them the IPC template letter, then receive my NtK then basically ignore everything until I get a court letter.
However I was wondering if I can solve this in an easier way -
1. I could ask my friend to go to the building reception and complain that there was someone else parked in the bay so there was no other option? -Not so sure about this option as they will tell my friend to fob off and just appeal to the parking company.
2. Appeal to the parking company via their email with a photo of my permit telling them that I had no choice but to park in the other bay as someone else had parked in mine. I assume that unless they took photos of the windscreen of my car showing no permit, they can't take me to court as it's clear I really had no choice. Then I just wait and watch as they wouldn't pursue this any further I hope.
3. Do the IPC template letter but adding a picture of my permit as well, and telling them I had no choice as there is no street parking in this area.
Thanks for your input!

there is no profit to be made in a private parking case if a company accepts an initial appeal
so almost ALL initial appeals are routinely dismissed out of hand
naming the driver may be a bad move , especially if that driver and the leaseholder have no permit for the wrong bay being used
2 wrongs do not make a right especially as it seems that in this case the driver did not have permission from the landowner or leaseholder to park in that bay 12
by all means try to get the MA to cancel the pcn, but I would not hold my breath0 -
So seems that my only option is to either pay the fine or send them the IPC template letter, then receive my NtK then basically ignore everything until I get a court letter?0

if you are appealing and the vehicle is not leased or hired then wait for the NTK, then send the black text template , then IGNORE anything except an LBC or an MCOL within 6 years
a landowner cancellation is ALWAYS the best option and outcome ,m regardless0 -
Honestly speaking, doing a quick search on these forums there are a few posts about how this company has sent court letters to people and it does scare me.
It seems really tempting to just pay £60 and get it over and done with - especially when the alternative feels like a gamble and a loss of time trying to write a defence if they do decide to take me to court.
I'll take some time and think over this *sigh*0 -
If a vehicle was parked in your bay, then the PPC will have ticketed them too at the same time. Clearly they are not managing anything, only penalising drivers, so the management company should be challenged as to what actual benefit the PPC is providing.
Having said that, you must have known that you were misappropriation someone else's parking space.0 -
Hi, I have just had the same thing happen to me. What did you do and what happened to the charge?0
