Cleaning UPVC

Hi folks,

My UPVC frames are in need of a clean. I bought some UPVC solvent cleaner from Toolstation which really has shifted some stubborn stains, but there are some minor marks that it won't shift. I've tried some Cif cleaner and it seems to work but I'm reluctant to use it again as apparently it can dull the finish on the UPVC frames. I've seen UPVC cream cleaner - would that be worth buying instead, or should it be avoided?

Also, some dirt and grime seems to have found its way between the glass and rubber gasket/seal. I have a nylon brush and the bristles seem to get in between the glass and seal - so again, would it be fine to keep using the brush? I don't want to risk any damage to the seal but no ill effects so far after testing on one frame.

I think I'll delay cleaning the UPVC until spring otherwise winter may very well turn it all dirty again shortly after I've cleaned it. I've read so many conflicting posts about using Cif but apparently it's better suited for old UPVC. I think mine is less than 3-years old.

Have you tried the white 'magic sponges' that are great for removing stubborn marks off all sorts of surfaces, might be worth a try.

I use these for all sorts of jobs around the house. (especially tea stains in cups) marks on walls etc
never thought to try them on UPVC though, will have to have a try it

You can buy them in lots of supermarkets, Tesco, Aldi etc but just google 'magic sponge eraser' and you'll get lots of results.
