Mortgage declined due to £5 mistake by Very.co.uk

Very.co.uk inexplicably charged me with an additional £5.50 (without advising me) six months after purchasing and paying for a pair of boots in April 2016. I only became aware when my mortgage application was declined this month because Very.co.uk reported the erroneous bill to the credit agencies. My credit agency score is now drastically reduced, with a corresponding impact on my mortgage application.
The Very.co.uk financial department admitted by phone that the additional £5 charge was their mistake, but that I had to webmail them as well for it to be corrected with Experian etc. Webmail has not worked all week, so I have had to complain by post. I am desperate for them to fix this quickly so I can sort my mortgage out urgently. Any suggestions?

Phone them?
Obviously ignore your credit score, as that is irrelevant. Just ensure that the late payment is removed.
However, it's unlikely that it was the sole cause of your mortgage decline.0 -
Very randomly added £5.50 then you never checked your credit account statement for months, never received any letters advising you of non-payment and never had any emails reminding you that you owed money?
