Tax credits income help

Hi all
I get both working tax (disability element)and child tax credits

Income 2016/2017 was 11500 I was only one working my partner returned to work Nov 2017 as was ill for long time
Aware income is based on last year earnings so I was only one earning that year ,we informed tax credits my partner had returned to work they asked income between now and April, which we gave ,as I’m aware income based on last year earnings I wasn’t expecting any tax credits change right away but it did when we requested why now not April they said we likely get it bk in April I’m not sure I understand call me thick 🙈🙈

Tax credits is based on last year’s income unless this year’s income increases by £2,500.

What have you estimated the household income to be for this year?
  • Thanks for reply

So your income has increased from £11,500 to £18,000 so an increase of more than £2,500.

Your tax credits will now be paid based on an income of £15,500 (the £18,000 you expect to earn minus the £2,500 they disregard).
