Amazon Black Friday deals scam?

Note: I live in a non VAT part of the UK.
Black Friday rant: On Amazon, buy an item before or after the "deal time slot" and VAT gets deducted👍🏻. Buy it during the deal time slot and the price is the same as the inc VAT price👎🏻. Am I missing something here?

Asking Amazon?0 -
Yes I live in the Channel Islands. I've asked Amazon and they say the deal price has no VAT, to be honest I don't think they understand. Well at least the person on the phone didn't.0

Sellers are not obliged to remove VAT.
This may help.

It doesn't explain why they remove it when it suits, but it does cover the fact it is down to the seller.Where VAT is applied to your UK purchase, you may want to contact the seller before you make a payment. They may remove or zero-rate the tax, but they are not obliged to.0 -
And? waiting for the scam...0

The seller is Amazon, they remove VAT when I buy it before or after the "lightening deal window" but not during, I did this with their support team whilst on the phone to them.
1. I showed him the item added to the basket and then "buy now" and the price was the same as on the webpage.
2. The deal then finished and I added another to the basket and "buy now" and the VAT was removed. The Scam? - I wonder if HMRC are missing out on VAT for goods sold during the deal window.
I've been an Amazon Prime member for years and the Vat always gets removed unless its a book or non VAT-able item.0 -

Simple if its a Scam you report it . No point moaning here HMRC will be glad of your input .0 -
Actually, I've tried with some Cyber Monday deals and the VAT seems to be removed - as it should.
Perhaps they've 'sorted' the ordering system.
HMRC ? They don't like the Channel Islands so I'll not light any fires by taking that further.0 -
