Credit Card Charges

in Credit cards
I am due to pay the balance of a holiday by 4 February to Thomas Cook. I would prefer to pay by credit card ( and repay in full of course) but they make a 2% charge which I find unacceptable. Effective January I understand that the Govt. is making it illegal for these charges to be made. My question is.Although my invoice states that Credit Cards will be charged , an I legally entitled to pay by card once the new Govt. ruling is implemented.
I have been in to my local Thomas Cook agency and they aren’t aware of any changes yet.

Why do you want to pay by card ? If it's to benefit from S75 protection then you only need to pay a portion of the total cost by card ( this can be as little as £1 ), and you'll be covered.
As to your question about being "legally entitled" to pay by card - the short answer is "no". No company is obliged to accept payment by credit card. Most larger companies do, of course, in order to attract custom. But there's nothing to stop anyone from refusing to accept a credit card payment - they are, after all, not "legal tender" ( using the correct definition of the term ).0 -
The reason it is preferred to pay by credit card is that the funds are being drawn from a Trust Account that only had a cheque facility and Thomas Cook won’t accept cheques.0

Pay the cheque into your own account and pay by card after the cut off date in January 2018.(13/1/18)0
