leaky pipes

Gooday,
We had a plumber in our bungalow to see what was making the solid floor wet.
On investigating he found the copper water pipes buried in the cement floor had been leaking maybe for a long time too.
He said that the leaks could have caused some movement of the inside walls as there were some small cracks on the ceiling/ wall line.
Leaks are mended now.
Should we inform the insurance company?
We have only been here two years, we didn't have a survey as we didn't need a mortgage.

You could get a professional out to take a look, then decide if it's serious enough to require action at which point you would probably want to involve the insurer anyway.0
