Until you instruct a valuer to give you a valuation, this is an academic discussion.
If your valuer agrees that £24k is a reasonable price - that's the end of it.
If your valuer thinks that £24k is too high - you have a basis for negotiation.
Have a read of this link:Crown properties*.* Although the Crown is not bound by the legislation, the Minister has made a statement to the House of Commons that the Crown will be prepared to comply with the principles of it.

Your valuer will give you an opinion on whether the Crown's valuation complies with the principles of the legislation.
The Crown won't take any notice of your personal opinion, but they should take notice of a professional RICS valuer's opinion.0 -
In fact, I've just seen this document about buying the freehold (Collective Enfranchisement) of Crown properties:
https://www.thecrownestate.co.uk/media/5222/policy-and-guidance-for-properties-in-non-excepted-areas.pdf
Did you follow those steps?
Paragraph 1.15 on page 3 - the Crown Estate actually advise you to instruct your own valuer.0 -
I think the reason we never got it valued ourselves is because:
a. we got a quote of 5K so we thought that was that!
b. we was always told that the crown solicitors would be getting someone to value it but it should be 5k - again seemed like no need to do and we never got told to do one either, before or after!?!
should I take this up with my solicitors?
I've seen online somewhere the figure 5K bound around too which made me think it was semi standard! thanks for your help!0
