    It is common practice for tenants to pay for the check in. It is as much a document to protect you as it is to protect the landlord. You should have asked for a copy. The fact that it isn't sign doesn't make it obsolete, although it could give you a bit more flexibility, however, ultimately, it was your responsibility to ask for it and make comments/changes if you didn't agree to it.

    Any items that are included in the inventory that do not work/break down should be reported. Again, it was your responsibility to do so.

    If you agree with the items being deducted but not the amount, you can make a counter offer and see what they say.

    The landlord seems to have failed to issue a tenant information pack as well as trying to charge the tenant for check in


    The Tenant Information Pack has been a legal requirement since 2013 and included an inventory etc.


    This is now superseded by the new MANDATORY rental agreement coming in on 1st December 2017
