Contacting Cheap Energy Club?
I'm having problems with my switch and British Gas have advised me to contact the comparison site I used, I've emailed the CEC email address twice with no reply (except the auto ones). My current tariff ends in 2 days so I need to get this resolved asap. Does anyone know how else I can contact the admins?

Remind me, somebody, what is Martin Lewis’ cautionary advice on the dangers of trading with outfits that operate only from behind a website and refuse determinedly to divulge their geographical address or even a contact telephone number?

How strange? Why would the supplier suggest you contact the PCW? (a) you might not (and so they may lose a customer) and (b) it'll cost the supplier when you switch via the PCW. Why can't they initiate a switch for you directly???
If it's because you want the tariff only available via the PCWs, then there are many to chose from, and some pay more cashback than the CEC (especially if you use MSE's specail links to them
)
Anyway, have you read the CEC FAQs?
https://clubs.moneysavingexpert.com/cheapenergyclub/faq
It covers not only how to contact the CEC, but also other questions that may be applicable to you (and hence why you have not been sent a respinse), e.g. "I've called the supplier and it knows nothing about the switch"
Also, if you have made an application to switch, your existing traiff will be held (even longer than the stated end date) to allow the switch to complete - time limits apply, but that's only so they are not held to it indefinitely.0 -
Thank you, I had read the FAQ's but it didn't really cover the exact issue. I've since heard back in the last couple of hours to my email - maybe they read this post!? I've now switched with another comparison site.

My question simply is how do I / can I correct the unit rates for gas and elecricity that Cheap Energy Club say I will be moving onto when my 1 years fix ends in a week's time. I hadn't realised that So Energy, my supplier, changed their prices so often - 9 times this year I think. Anyway the potential savings I could make by switching are based on unit prices much lower than I have been quoted by So. I realise that this means I should save even more by switching, and will just have to do more sums myself, but I thought there'd be a mechanism for reporting to MSE when incorrect figures are being used for comparison.
So Energy have changed their unit costs 9 times this year, and the unit cost you are using is neither the current one (So Koala - 2.78p for Gas) which I will be moved onto, nor the previous one (So Kangaroo - 2.64p) so the unit cost shown of 2.54 (I wish!) is at least 2 changes out of date.
In a nutshell how can a Cheap Energy Club member flag up incorrect data used in a comparison?0 -

If you are on a fixed tariff, then your CEC profile will show the details for that tariff. Ofgem mandates that suppliers and PCWs use a rolling 12 months cost projection. If you DO NOTHING in a week’s time, your supplier will move you to its standard variable tariff.
It follows that your projected costs for the next 52 weeks will be one week on present tariff PLUS 51 weeks on your supplier’s SVT. You cannot change the default calculation on CEC; however, you can use CEC’s ‘cost for 12 months on present tariff’ compared to ‘12 months on these tariffs’ with the cheapest tariff for your usage and postcode at the top of the table. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. You cannot change the tariff details. (but make sure you have picked the correct tariff from the often numerous ones offered)
If you believe they are incorrect, contact the CEC with your evidence, and if they agree, they should correct the information.0 -

I am also having the same issue. Over a month has passed since my switch request. My "new supplier" has no record of me or my impending switch. I have emailed CEC and have received the standard auto response. I cannot find a telephone number. I am cancelling my CEC membership (albeit free!) and will use an alternative comparison site. It's a shame I have wasted over a month.0 -

Welcome to the forum. Price comparison sites do nothing more than pass on your application to switch to your chosen supplier. It is worth waiting a couple of days, and if no Welcome Pack has been forthcoming, then contact the supplier and ask why? Rest assured, each party will blame the other. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Welcome to MSE :hello:
This thread is a blast from the past, isn't it?
Did you know there is a FAQ page for the CEC?
https://clubs.moneysavingexpert.com/cheapenergyclub/faq
[Edit: I see the same link was given in post#3 made over a year ago - so long ago I'm no longer able to thank the poster - so I'll post my gratitude here
]
Presumably you did, as that is one place the contact email address is.
There never was a telephone number provided, even when you signed up.
One of the questions posed on the FAQ page is
[Edit: again, referred to in this thread in post#3 over a year ago]I've called the supplier and it knows nothing about the switch
This doesn't mean your switch isn't in progress. We're finding more and more that suppliers' call centres don't have up-to-date information about switches (or they say they don't).
So if you've called the new supplier and it doesn't know about the switch, don't worry about it. Wait a few days, and you should receive confirmation of the switch in the post. Don't switch over the phone directly with the supplier - if you do, you'll miss out on any cashback you were eligible for.
Of course, you are free to cancel your CEC membership at any time
Remember, the Cheap Energy Club is not primarly a comparison site, but rather a monitoring and alert service - they continually monitor to ensure you are on the best tariff, and alert you when you are not.How do I delete my Cheap Energy Club Account?
Why would you want to do that?! Please let us know if there's an issue by emailing energyclub@moneysavingexpert.com. But to delete your account, simply log in and click the 'Leave Energy Club' button at the bottom of the page.
Please note: If you delete your account, it doesn’t cancel any switches currently in progress. If you would like to cancel your switch with your energy provider, you’ll need to contact the provider as it won’t let us cancel for you. See the list of energy provider contact details below.
Most comparison sites do not currently offer this service.
It's up to you if you wish to apply for a new switch.
But beware any early exit fees that may apply to the switch you requested via the CEC.
Take care - looks like you didn't wait around for any response.

I have had real trouble contacting CEC on the email address supplied on the contact page. I switched to the MSE 'Green Network Energy 12 month fix' and noticed that the standing charge is double the price quoted by MSE (I am being charged 31.05 and the quoted price was 16.664p per day). When I noticed this I emailed the supplied address for CEC and after five days got a response. The CEC representative, Harry, showed me a screen grab within his email which appeared to show that the price I was being charged was indeed 16.664p, however, I believe this screen grab was from the generic page posted as a representation of all costs generically charged across the board by all subscribers to this deal.
I emailed back with a screen grab of my account which clearly shows that I am being charged 31.05p. This email and all subsequent emails have been appearing in my inbox - I am not sure whether they are being received by CEC Harry or simply directed straight back to me.
Here is a list of emails sent which have all been sent and sent straight back to me (I am using the same address as the initial email which was clearly received):
1. Initial email - 12th Dec
2. Response from CEC - 17th Dec (5 days!)
3. My response containing proof of being charged 31.05p - 17th Dec
4. Email 3 appearing in my inbox - 17th Dec
5. I email asking if email 3 had been received - 17th Dec
6. Email 5 appears in inbox - 17th Dec
7. Second email of the day asking Harry if he received any of my two previous responses - 17th Dec
8. Email 7 appears in my inbox - 17th Dec
9. I send a new email (not as a 'reply' to any previous emails) asking if anything had been received - 19th Dec
10. Email 9 appears in my inbox - 19th Dec
11. I send email asking if there was 'any danger of a response' - 20th Dec
12. Email 11 appears in my inbox - 20th Dec
Now, it may be that there is a cash back situation which will bring the standing charge down to the quoted price but I would like someone to respond so that I can have peace of mind that my new Air Source Heat pump isn't going to cost me the earth to run!0
