Hi everyone,
ok this is going to sound pretty stupid, back in 2014 I came into a bit of money and wanted a nice new tv I went into Currys and saw a deal on the Samsung UE65F9000 reduced from £5000 to £2799 I purchased this with my debit card and they threw in free delivery thanks for the free £20...
I was thinking of getting an upgrade this weekend to a new xbox and wanted to check the specs to my TV I forgot the model looked at the back and have spotted what I have is the Samsung UE65F8000 which at release costs £2650 so basically paid £150 more for the lesser model nearly 2 years after release.
I totally understand this is my fault for not checking I'm not a tech person the tv apart from the stands look identical its the specs that are different between the models and in fairness its a pretty awesome tv but I'm !!!!ed that the deal I thought I had got from a tv that should have been £5000 originally was basically me getting screwed over. I cant find the receipt but have checked my statement so know the date and amount paid. Would anyone know if Currys keep transactions on there records at all? I tried to ring the customer services but held for 50 mins then got cut off.
I know its daft I'm kicking myself I didn't notice this until now and I'm happy with my TV but I'm pretty annoyed ive been ripped off.

Yes they’ll have a record of the TV you bought, proving it after this length of time though will be impossible, who’s to say you didn’t sell it on and buy a cheaper tv instead?0

I doubt it and to be honest, far too much time has passed to do anything about it. Even if they did have a record, unless it records the serial number, how do they know you just didn't sell the TV and buy a different one in the meantime?0

The images Im seeing show a very different stand design. Do you have the plain square base or long silver?0 -
It has the long base, though the tv was wall mounted until about 2 months ago so the base was in the loft. Yep I agree with what you are all saying i couldve just sold it I guess I will have to put this one down to experiance pretty !!!!ed off though.0

I think that was what they meant, i.e.:
"I'm not a tech person, the tv (apart from the stands) look identical"0 -

Yup,agreed. However there is a stark difference in the two designs and as such the rears of the sets/connectios etc.0 -

Couldn't have been such a big deal if you never even noticed in the first place.
As for getting a £5000 tv in the first place, you don't really fall for that sales rubbish do you?0 -
Not that it matters now, but as the purchase was made before the Consumer Rights Act came into effect, the terms of this sale are governed by The Sale of Goods Act.
In SoGA there is the concept of accepting the goods after a period of time.
I think one could safely say that after three years one would be deemed to have accepted the goods supplied, whether or not they were the goods ordered.0 -

If OP had been given incorrect goods, accepting them doesn't mean you have no rights to remedy - it just means you can't reject for a full refund.
Obviously the CMA's guidance doesn't say anything on the matter with acceptance not being part of CRA, but OFTs guidance did say that even where goods are legally "accepted", the retailer remains liable to provide a remedy if they subsequently prove to not conform to contract at the time of sale - which in those circumstances is likely to be a reduction in price or replacement. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
