Direct Debit Question - want to pay CC bill from bank in wife's name

in Credit cards
I have 3 credit cards in my name and I would like the Direct Debit's to be paid by my wife from a bank account in her sole name.
Have any of you achieved something similar?
The credit cards are Santander, Virgin Money and Sainsbury's Bank and the bank is Nationwide
I submitted all the DD requests on the credit card internet portals. Santander deosn't ask for a name for the bank account (will they just use my name and if so will the DD fail as the bank account is in my wife's name?)
Sainsbury's and Virgin both asked for a name for the DD and I put my wife's. Hopefully this should just go through? However, I have noticed that when I now go and edit the Virgin Direct Debit the 'name' has reverted back to mine, but with my wife's bank account details. Will this fail?
I've called Virgin and Santander and they both seem to think it should be fine as long as my wife is present and agrees. However, Sainsbury's said they will need to send out a mandate for her to sign and my request for a DD in my wife's name "shouldn't get processed" by the back office staff.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

I'm not sure you should be doing that. The account details are not your own and there is no proof that your wife agreed to this.
As a minimum, this should be done over the telephone so that your wife can give the details to the phone operator in person. Although as they weren't the account holder of the credit cards themselves they have no rights to talk to the lender in future. Their only recourse if there was something they disputed that you weren't willing to deal with would be to cancel the DD with their building society (Nationwide is not a bank) which would muck up your credit file. Also bear in mind she could end up paying more if the minimum amount is paid and the interest rate goes up.
Your options are:
Agree with her to pay you from her account into yours a few days before the DD is due, and have it come out of your account.
Agree with her that she pays for some other bills (utility bills, mortgage/rent, council tax... That sort of thing,) up to a similar amount and have the CC money come out of your account.
Set up a joint account where all bills come from. You both pay in agreed amounts to cover any bills.2.88 kWp System, SE Facing, 30 Degree Pitch, 12 x 240W Conergy Panels, Samil Solar River Inverter, Havant, Hampshire. Installed July 2012, acquired by me on purchase of house in August 20170 -
Thanks for your replies. The reason for doing this is she needs more Direct Debits in her account for a switch. I wonder what will happen to the DDs I and my wife have submitted online then. Will they fail and will I end up missing a payment/getting charged interest? I would be interested to hear if anyone has ever tried this or had experience with a failed DD on any of these cards....0

I doubt the banks cross reference the bank account name with the credit card name.0

I can see a divorce coming here!!
Can you imagine the conversation such as ''HOW much did you spend this month!!'' or Why didn't you tell me the bill was so much I've gone overdrawn now and will have to pay charges etc LOL
Anybody know a good solicitor who takes cards??0 -
