Hi Yes anyone can pay money in to your account, They don't even need to be in the same town.
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

Thank's for the reply, can you just clarify that they are able to do this at the post office? I know they can do it from a bank but just want to confirm they can at the post office because i live in a remote area the nearest branch is 6 miles away where as the post office is 2 mins away.

For lloydsbank on the post office website for payments in it says:

"Yes - with personalised paying in slip from Lloyds Bank"

I have a paying in book with my name on it, can anybody use this at the post office on my behalf?

    thanks again.

Thank's for the reply, i already replied just before seeing your one, for lloydsbank you can't pay in at the post office with a card for some reason. it has to be with a paying in slip, seems a bit outdated!
  • One final thing, I have never used the paying in slip before, this may sound silly but do i need to give them the entire book or do i just rip off one slip, i assume they give you a receipt?

It's probably easier if you give them the book because the PO can them stamp the slip to confirm the payment as opposed to having a separate receipt which is easier to lose.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • I'm pretty sure that with Lloyds you need an envelope to put your credit and cheque into - some PO's will have them otherwise you can order them over a freephone number.
Cash I think you can put in with a chip and pin card.

Now giving someone else your card and PIN is another matter though.

I recently did this to pay a cheque into my NatWest account at my local Post Office. They did not stamp the book or the paying in slip but put the completed slip into the envelope then gave me a Post Office receipt for the envelope.

NatWest and Lloyds envelopes are supposed to be available at the Post Office and I found this to be the case. Plus they had a small supply of envelopes for other bank that the P.O. website says you need to get from the respective bank...https://www.postoffice.co.uk/branch-banking-services#lloydstsb

For Lloyds: "Yes - with personalised paying in slip and deposit envelope from Lloyds Bank or Post Office branch".
  • Thank's everybody.
