Best Rewards Credit Card

Me and the wife both currently have a joint Tesco Credit Card. We used to shop loads at Tesco's including getting petrol at their petrol station.

However we are now using Morrison's for our main shop and also petrol, with Aldi also in the mix. It now makes no sense in having the Tesco Credit card so need to move to another one.

The credit card is paid off in full each month so we are looking for the one that gives us the best loyalty points, etc., keeping in mind we shop mainly at Morrison's (60%) and Aldi (40%).

TIA

Firstly, there is no such thing as a joint credit card. One of you will be the account holder and the other will be a supplementary cardholder on the account.

If you're looking for pure cash then the best is probably an Amex Platinum Cashback card. There are two variants - a free one and one that costs £25 a year but pays a higher rate of cashback. You'll have to do the maths to see which is best for you depending on annual spend.

Amex is not quite as widely accepted as Visa/MC, but is nearly so, and certainly Morrisons, Aldi and 99% of petrol stations accept it.

As msallen says, there is no such thing as a joint credit card, so if you find that you'd like to combine the benefits of two cards (Aqua Reward is a good card for example, though the limit would be lower than most as it is a subprime card) one of you could be the main cardholder on one card and the other on another.

The NatWest Reward credit card currently gives 1% cashback on all supermarket spend and 0.5% everywhere else. They also have various offers that give more but these frequently change. In April to June 2015 they gave 10% cashback on all restaurant and bar expenditure!

It does cost £24 per annum so you need to calculate if it is worth it for you. My £24 is refunded because I also have the NatWest Reward current account which gives 2% on utilities, council tax, water, broadband and telephone bills. This costs £2 per month and now has minimum pay in requirements which was not the case for me since this changed after I opened the account.

ALDI does not accept AMEX. I have 2 ALDI stores near me and they have never accepted AMEX.
