What do you have at the moment?

The best electric boiler for E10 central heating is the storage type. Basically a big water tank with about 12KW of electric heaters. You don't need to store the heat very long, probably the longest storage time being from the mid day / afternoon E10 period to the evening.

If you have radiators and a real rime boiler, then you probably just want to swap that to a storage boiler.
  • What sort of heaters do you have? I'm have an Economy 10 meter with storage heaters and it works well for me.

You might be better off with a different type of meter depending on how you heat your home.

Also there are several different types of E10 meters. Do you know what type you have? If not how many readings does it have and where abouts do you live?
  • 10 hours cheaper heat in 3 blocks, compared to 7 hours cheaper heat in 2 blocks only continues to exist because GOV forced the big 6 against their will to support the existing tariff for those existing E10 customers.

Only a few suppliers supply and all at the same price point so there is no chance you will find a cheaper tariff. The only workable option you have is to change to the much more competitive E7 tariff and pricing options. Best of luck.

  • Hi OP

We used to have economy 10 with our all electric heating and were paying around 10p per kwh for the off peak electric and 20p per kwh for the peak electric.

We recently got rid of Economy 10 metering and went to a single rate meter and now pay around 11.5 p per unit for all the electric at whatever time of date. We're on the SSE collective 1 year fix v5.

We found that the discount on the cheap rate was being cancelled out by the very high off peak prices and now we just have the heating on as and when we need it - so we can put it on at times when it used to be in the peak and cost a fortune and now costs us alot less.

Economy 10 is probably only still of benefit if you're using next to nothing in the peak period but if the house is cold or your out of hot water then that's when your using the electric - plus its alot nicer not planning our lives around the meter any more!

    Good Luck!

Do I know who is the best supplier of Economy 10 for you? Yes. :)

The legacy supplier for your supply region. Hope you (nor anyone else) has ever attempted to switch from them .

    Good luck!
