Is my thermostat correct?

Hi everyone,
I had a new digital thermostat fitted a couple of weeks ago and overall it seems to be working really well. The heating was on all day yesterday at 20 degrees and it maintained it perfectly.
However, once turned down or off I'm not sure if it is registering falls in temperature correctly. It seems to take a *very* long time for the temperature to drop, for example I turned the heat down to 17 degrees at about 8pm but the thermostat was still reading 19.5 when I went to bed at 11pm. So the boiler hadn't come back on at all in three hours and it definitely seemed cooler than 19.5 degrees in my house! This morning when I woke up the house was still 15 degrees according to the stat, despite the hard frost outside and it feeling a lot chillier than that. The heating had been fully off throughout the night.
Does this sound right? Is my house just really well insulated, and my feeling colder is psychological because I know the boiler hasn't been on? As I said, when the set temperature is reached it is maintained perfectly so maybe there is no problem after all. The stat is in the living room, same place as the old analogue one.
Many thanks,
Laura

I have the stat set to 19(hall).
last night peaked at 19.3 at around 11 (we opend the living room door which tends to be a bit warmer)
dropped to 17.3 when my 4 am preheat to 18 by 5am came on.
the other day 22nd it did not drop below 18.5 at 5am

if this is a programmable stat better to set the temps you want for the times you want and let it get on with the job it is designed to do, no need to fiddle with the temps.0 -
Ah that's great, thank you. Seems it is all working correctly then

If you have decent insulation, the house will lose heat relatively slowly.
(unless you open all the windows.......!!)0 -
I thought the same about my thermostat last week, lucky I had a digital thermometer that I sat beside my digital thermostat and after about 30 minutes checked and they were identical at 22C.0
