This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning all
Very cold here with a sharp frost my car is parked on the drive atm and not under the car port, I have to scrape the ice off yesterday and not being used to it I only had a necter card to do it with, dd's car is under the car port as they are away and its easier to get the cars in and out that way, I shall be glad when we swap back tonight.
Off to work again for me Im getting positively giddy with excitement at the thought of finishing tomorrow and having the week off !
OH ripped the kitchen out yesterday and took the flooring up tiles off the wales etc, at the moment it looks like we are living in a squat  the kitchen is revolting and we found lots of mould under one of the cupboards which is now being treated, hopefully today the new flooring will go down today and maybe even a few cabinets, we are currently making tea on a box in the lounge and the dinner plates are on top of the TD :rotfl:the old kitchen is currently in the garden and will need removing at some point soon.
Not sure about dinner tonight will see if there is anything in the freezer that I can cook at work otherwise it might have to be fish and chips.
Right better get on have good days all xx

Morning folks and thanks REDRUBY. I don't envy you one bit living in all that chaos but I will have kitchen envy when it's done! No snow here this morning but there is a thick frost.
DD is taking middle DGD up to Darlington this afternoon for an audition for a performance by the Northern Youth Ballet. Her teacher says it will be good experience for her even if she isn't offered a place. DD dithered long and hard before agreeing. The other two girls are coming here and then all three staying tonight as DD is working tomorrow. And it's a teacher training day so they will be here all day. So a chaotic couple of days in store for us.
I left some pork in the sc overnight for lunch and it's smelling lovely. Will prep the spuds and veg shortly.
I hope the walking wounded are feeling less sore today and those nursing colds too. Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for those wanting/needing them. Take care x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning All
Cold out but doesn't look too frosty. I didn't go out yesterday, didn't need any shopping and the pavements were so icy it would have been suicide!
I got all the christmas presents shifted from DDs bed, wrapped and put in bags ready to dish out, just waiting for another couple of bits to arrive and then I'm done. I don't seem to have bought for many folk this year, just how I like it!
Good luck with the kitchen RR, I put my old one on freegle and gumtree for free and a lovely chap came to collect it, he was really grateful and sent me photos when he had re-fitted it in his house.
I have been given tickets to the country living christmas fair in Glasgow today so shall go along for a look with a friend, helps that I don't have anything to buy so should enjoy it.
DW emptied, dry washing folded and bins emptied, that will be about all my housework for the day.
Happy Sunday. Take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone
redruby - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Enjoying first peaceful cuppa, I'll be having a second in a mo.
All clear and bright here as it was yesterday - looks like a frost again too. It was really chilly here yesterday and temperature took ages to get above freezing.
Dinner last night was a disjointed one, we were invited to mum's as my bro is visiting and he was cooking, the food is always lovely but what he was cooking last night wasn't really to my taste and definitely not for DH and it's always really late by the time we eat if we go there and it gives DH a bad night, also he had already committed to helping someone out first thing this morning, so had an early start anyway. I had a fancy for veggie curry, so made a chicken korma and a veggie tikka marsala, with samosas and onion bhajis - our's was served at 5.15pm and was delicious, there's 2 good portions of the veggie curry in the fridge. The boy's said they didn't sit down to eat until 8pm - so they had a late dinner.
Lunch today will be roast lamb, roasties, mash, carrots, caui/broc cheese, brussels, peas, yorkshires and gravy. I'm expecting today to be a chilled day - will prep the pack ups etc whilst the lunch is cooking. I have tomorrow off then back to work on Tuesday morning. I still have quite a "to do" list so would like to tackle a good load of it tomorrow, so will re-write it shortly, so at worst the main bits get done - I really must make the xmas cake and the xmas puds and I have a couple of jobs to do in town. Also the ironing pile is staring at me. So plenty to keep me busy.
Keep safe and well x

Morning everyone
Dumpling – I hope that Becky had a good visit.
Lainey – I hope that you had a good night and are not too bruised from your fall yesterday.
Hester – It sounds like the cost of maintaining the boat can be quite expensive. I hope that the bill for the engine wasn’t too much yesterday.
Thank you all for your kind wishes yesterday. My knee was just as painful yesterday as it had been when I did falling over the day before. Overnight it had swollen to more than twice the size of the other one. I didn’t have much option other than to stay on the sofa most of the day in the end because it was so painful to try and stand up. I did take the advice given on here and make myself stand up and move about a bit periodically, but was glad to get to bed last night. I went to bed at 9.00pm to watch I’m a celebrity in bed. Hopefully it will be more comfortable today, but I’m planning on another day resting it.
So I don’t have any plans for today other than the sofa, a book and some TV again.
Hugs to those of you who are poorly and having a difficult time at the moment.
Have a good Sunday everyone whatever you are doing.0 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread RR, hugs to Holly, Dumpling and anyone else in need.
It's bright and clear here the boat and jetty are icy so I won't be setting foot outside for a while yet.
We went out for a belated birthday meal last night which was very nice but the main road was very busy as there are three motorway junctions closed this weekend.
I've riddled the fire and topped it up, I'll empty the ash pan when I've had my first cuppa, I'm hoping to get more sewing and crochet done today.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning everyone.
No frost in Glasgow! Yes, I’m still here but leaving this morning. DM is coughing a lot, to be expected following a cold, however I’ve just lost me rag with her (gently) as she still isn’t upping her fluid levels. I’ve been going in every hour to get her to drink. The worry of dehydration is one thing along with needing plenty of fluids to loosen the stuff she’s coughing up and lubricant her throat. There’s nothing green or yellow. Drives me mad as she keeps saying ‘I’ve never drunk a lot’. Anyway, I’ve had my say! I know she’s miserable and not well but there has to come a point when self-help is important.
I’ve off for a shower! Happy Sunday to all.0 -

Morning all,
RR A new kitchen... how exciting! Ignore the mess it will be worth it.
Nothing planned for me today and the men are still fast asleep. Youngest was out with the lads last night and rolled in around 3. Gump has got a day of paperwork, emails and banking to do so i'll potter about downstairs as he shuts himself away to concentrate.
Hoping that everyone with aches and pains from yesterday are feeling better and that everyone is wrapped up warmly.
Onwards and forwards,
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Morning everyone,
Thanks for the good wishes folks, am very stiff and sore today as to be expected, must have bitten my tongue as that is cut and surprisingly bruised, must admit didn't know you could bruise a tongue! I still got up early to go and see to Lulu, Nelski she is showing no side effects to our adventure thankfully.
Today will be mostly spent resting up although wary of stiffening up too much, have to go over to the yard later but will persuade my beloved to come along to help with the heavier jobs
Hope your knee starts to go down a bit Holly.
RR am sure all the mess will be worth the final result, enjoy your week off
Have a good day folks x0
