This is probably the reason you are seeing a delay with them whereas you don't with others.
Ultimately this will be down to them protecting their own interests\bottom line (although they will claim it is for your security), so if they are making a bit of extra margin via a day's interest then this will probably also partly be the reason.
Not much you can do about it though if it's within the regs - a bit like some years ago when all banks used to routinely hold money for several days for clearing long after the technology had made the need to do so obsolete - you could try complaining if particular transaction delays has caused you problems and you may get a bit of hush 'compensation' to make you go away, or you can always vote with your feet.0
