£12,000 for 42 square metres of brick, herringbone pattern, driveway at the side of my house.
I've not posted full details here because they're far too lengthy but would anyone 'in the know' have a view on this ?

That sounds insanely expensive for a block paving drive but suggest you get at least one other quote."We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein0

More than twice what I would expect. Get some more quotes!Thinking critically since 1996....0

Hmmm, that's very interesting, thank you.
Your reactions are exactly the same as mine.
I had the quote about a month ago by the same people that did a neighbours driveway, they were extremely happy with the service and that prompted me to ask the company for a quote.
Back in the summer i had a different company quote and that was indeed half that amount, i intend getting a 3rd quote in the next few months.
The 2 quotes showed different degrees of preparation work, the dearer carrying out far more excavation etc and more soakaways due to a high water table in this area.
The lower doing a lot less and 'using existing concrete base' - that is just a small section of that particular sentence but one that jumped out at me.
Does that last point account for such a different price ?0 -
The bit that leapt out at me was "different degrees of preparation work" - and I would suspect the cheaper firm of trying to bodge it basically and go for the dearer one.0

I still think £300 psqm is obscene! Get a few more quotes.Thinking critically since 1996....0
