Travel Insurance for Sri Lankan Living In UK

My son's girlfriend is coming on holiday with us next year to Spain. She has a Sri Lankan passport and indefinite leave to remain in the U.K. She can't afford to apply for a U.K. passport yet and I hadn't realised how complicated it was for her to travel, with the need for loads of documentation to apply for a Visa.
She also of course needs travel insurance and I was hoping someone could tell me if she needs different insurance from the rest of us, who are U.K. citizens?

So long as she has physically been in the UK for the last six months, she can get insurance just like everyone else.

Just one thing to check: can she get an EHIC card? Some travel insurance makes it a condition that the insured person obtains and if necessary uses an EHIC card, so if she cannot get one then she needs to ensure that her insurance does not have this condition.
  • Thanks for that, she's lived here for 14 years. I will definitely look into the EHIC card.
