This morning I tried to make a purchase using my Capital One card. I use the CC for my business and went to a plumber's merchant to by a TRV for a job.
"Transaction Declined" x2!
Spent ages trying to get through to C1 and was eventully told their servers are down and they can't process CC payments.

"That's life"? Rubbish! Substandard service more like.
Don't take it - 4% cash back or not - when you go out and use your card, you need assurance that there is the reliability and service you need.
If some one offers you 4% off - expect to get 4% off everything! The price, service and reliability! They must be losing money - so have to make it up else where, e.g. by providing poor service and not letting you transact against the card - and there by saving themselves money.
As fenella says (http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=6548138&postcount=13) - why should they be allowed to advertise a card that they cannot support?0 -
I agree with Fenella but if advertisements have already been put up all over London and TV slots booked then it may be not be easy to take them all down.
If they have been a "victim of their own success" then that's a ridiculous excuse as my pet goldfish could have told them it would be very popular.
However I'm going to reserve judgement until I know the facts.
As a general principle in life I recommend it.
I do agree though that service has been sub-standard recently.0
