  • Sorry you didn't get the job, but hope you hear from the other one. The job you're being interviewed for sounds very stressful, so probably not right for you.

It may be better to have a friend move in rather than your relatives, as their routine with a child could be different to yours. It depends upon how well you know/get along with them. It would certainly be better to have someone to share the expenses with.

Having a sense of humour is a good coping strategy I've always thought. I always try to see the humour in every situation, no matter how dire :).

Thanks Hairy, I'm sure that a good role will arise soon. Also, agreed I think the stressful job isn't right for me and it's short term.

I have a friend in mind who might want to move in but I haven't known her as long as my in laws.

Lastly, I need to laugh, I'd like to watch some 'clean' comedy Youtube clips rather than the swearing-filled stuff. Or a funny movie, hopefully I'll find something funny to watch soon.

As always, thanks for your support Hairy, you're a DFW treasure.

  • With regard to funny movies I find these always make me laugh:

    Airplane
Who Am I? Or The Tuxedo (Jacky Chan)
Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead
The Man With Two Brains (Steve Martin)
    Blazing Saddles

You may hate them though :rotfl:

  • Hey everyone,

I'm hope you're having a good week. I thought I'd share a midweek update with you

Be kind to yourself, be gentle to yourself
Within the past 24 hours, two people (my cousin and Stepdad) have told me to be kind and gentle to myself. For years people have told me not to be so hard on myself, this is something that I really want to do. Step by step, I need to practise more self acceptance and self love.

    Expenses
£210 - Self Assessment Tax Return: I paid an Accountant to complete my Tax Return. I anticipated this expense.
£25 - Food: I spent more on food this week than usual, this spend was higher partly because I bought more breakfast foods. I'd like to eat proper breakfasts again and exercise again.

    Two job applications
I'm working on two job applications, both due this week.

Project Support Officer: A very well paid 6 month contract within a prestigious organisation. This role would offer me excellent pay, great experience and although my focus is on securing a permanent role, this would be a great opportunity.

Art Project Officer: A role that combines project management, event/workshop organisation, social media and communications. Well paid, slightly less that what I'm looking for but still a really good salary, especially for a creative role. At first I wasn't going to apply for this role as I thought that I needed more experience but between work and my art group I do have experience and I know I'd do a great job, so I'm going for it.

    Talk...more
I need to reach out and seek advice and support more often. I know that would help me to feel better and it would be good for me to trust a bit more.

Thank you for reading and folllowing this journey.

  • Good luck with the applications. I always love seeing your diary pop up as it’s a good reminder to me to slow down and take a moment for self care.
Trying to figure out a whole new life. Trying to figure out a whole new budget.
Divorcing, unclear on final debt total right now, but focusing on building a financial buffer zone.

Thanks! Your comment was a lovely surprise. I'm glad that you're gaining something positive from my posts. If this can help someone in some way, that would be great. Your comment was also a good reminder for me to include self care practices and tips whenever I can.
