Nikon D70 Digital Camera

Bear in mind that Nikon have just replaced the D70 with the D70-S, and in a couple of weeks are also introducing the D50, which is a slightly less specced version of the D70 at a lower price.
With a bit of sniffing around you could find some pretty decent prices for the D70 in the next few weeks.0 -

I think you are right...pin wrote:I don't think its price discrimination per se, but a country specific promotion. It has a start date and a stop date, so its not an indirect price discrimination (i.e. a way to get round the price discrimination rules). I don't think there is anything in EU laws against country specific promotions.

Thank you for your email.
Marketing incentives are developed for products at specific times according to market forces, often at short notice, however, the terms and conditions of these offers are clear, non negotiable and I assure you they comply with current legislation and recommendations from relevant marketing associations. These terms may be specific to times and dates of purchase, as well as origin of product, or product model and are clearly advertised wherever possible. I confirm the current promotion only applies to products which have been supplied and distributed by Nikon UK Ltd.
The Terms & Conditions can be viewed on the web:
http://www.nikon.co.uk/d70cashback/terms.asp
In the terms & conditions we recommend that you check with your dealer to ensure your D70 is eligible before purchasing - additionally you can visit our website for a list of authorised UK & Ireland dealers.
To clarify the warranty on the D70 - unlike conventional photographic equipment, we are unable to offer a worldwide warranty for our digital products as internal components may differ due to localised operating systems, voltage requirements, radio emission laws, broadcast standards etc. Warranties offered on these products are regional only and this is also the case for similar products from the majority our competitors. UK stock cameras carry a European regional warranty.
Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused and please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions.
Kind regards

10/06/2005 02:58 PM I noticed that your offer for £100 cash back is only for UK and ireland, and only for camera purchased in the UK. "Promotion only accessed on-line. Promotion is available on purchases made in the UK and Republic of Ireland of a legitimate Nikon D70 SLR product between 01/02/2005 and 19/06/2005 inclusive. To qualify for a voucher to claim your cashback, your new D70 SLR must then be registered on-line at www.nikon.co.uk/d70cashback by 2nd July 2005." I noitce that many cameras are from other EU countries. Do these qualify? If not how do you justify your positions as the treaty of Rome bans practices that prevent the free flow of goods and services within the EU. These cameras are not grey imports from outside the EU. They are all EU cameras. Will you provide the cash back on Nickon D70 purchase in the UK if they are EU stock? How can I tell if a camera is EU or UK stock? What is th warantee on these units?
