Condemned boiler

Hi there,
I have a been in my house nearly twenty months now and have just had britosh gas condemn our boiler so need a replacement. The question i have is when british gas came out they were able to inform me the boiler had been condemned back in 2014. Is this not illegal for someone to knowingly sell on with a condemned?

BG re renowned for 'condemning' boilers. the engineers earn commission on sales of new ones.
Ask a local independant gasSafe engineer to look/service it.
As for the 'illegality', what answers did the seller give on form TA6 (question 12.3)?
Can you get BG to provide a copy of their 2014 assessment?
And what did your own engineer's report say?
Out of interest
a) is the ch working?
b) on what grounds did BG condemn it?0 -
British Gas have decided to call the boiler "condemned" because they no longer deal with a supplier who can get parts for it. The boiler is not condemned.
Get a local independent gas safe person out to remove the sticker and sort it out.0 -

Not even that as previously mentioned their "engineers" get commission on the sale of a new one.
OP I bet there is next to nothing wrong with your boiler.
As others have said get a local independent Gas Safe Engineer to look at it.2.88 kWp System, SE Facing, 30 Degree Pitch, 12 x 240W Conergy Panels, Samil Solar River Inverter, Havant, Hampshire. Installed July 2012, acquired by me on purchase of house in August 20170 -
If BG can't fix it or get parts they condemn it. Clearly someone else managed to fix it and get it working fine in 2014 if you have been using it for the last 20minths.0

As G_M suggested. Find out why the bolier was condemned. Despite the cynisim from some posters. Best to get the real facts to make an informed decision. Sounds as if the issue wasn't fixed that was found back in 2014.0

though if it was condemned because BG couldn't get it working, then clearly someone else did manage to fix.
And if condemned because it was exhaling CO, then how come OP and family are still around........?
(note - do you have a CO monitor?)0
