Aquacadabra selling 15 yr old stock and not paying for return

I bought an aquarium filter from Aquacadabra on eBay 15 months ago that had a 3 yr guarantee.
It has broken.
The seller said I needed to contact manufacturer
They haven't sold this pump for over 15 YEARS and said the contract is with the seller.
Seller replied sorry we only give 1 yr warantee
I replied it has 3yr guarantee and you as the seller are responsible for product for 6 years
They replied - ok return it to us and we'll refund you - but I need to pay the postage
It will hardly be worth it....... (what they are relying on)
I contacted citizens advice who said they should pay return postage
I have told them this yet they are refusing - I am unclear on what to do now. Where do I go next?
Thanks

What are you saying the postage will cost0

Yes they should pay postage. But they can also reduce the refund value to represent to use had to date. So the net result of paying return may be the same tbh0

< and you as the seller are responsible for product for 6 years >
Thats simply not true .
You as the purchaser have 6 years to take your complaint to court .
You can return and get a refund by paying postage . As the consumer laws apply you have had 15 months usage and may be deducted a relevant amount pro rata .
This three year guarantee is presumably from the manufacturer and subject to their terms and conditions .0 -
The manufacturers warranty is long gone.
There is no '6 year warranty' with the seller.
You've had it more than 6 Months, the seller is being fair offering a refund, but can reduce the refund due to the 15 months use you've had of the filter.
How much was this filter?0 -
Did the retailer advertise it as having a 3-year warranty? If so they're in breach of contract and should either give you a 3 year warranty or suitable compensation.
You'd almost certainly have to pay postage under the manufacturer's warranty.
If you are enforcing your statutory rights then the retailer is required to pay the return postage, but can require you to provide an independent report demonstrating that the fault was inherent at the time of purchase.0
