Tv ariel

A good aerial erector should test your signal and tell you immediately if your signal is strong enough to avoid a 'booster' or amplifier. That's what my guy did some 12 years ago and the same aerial now feeds the lounge TV and a TV card in the desktop PC that I am typing this from. I didn't need a booster and I get a great signal in both.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

I asked a few of the new neighbours this morning ,two thirds of them have loft aerials which they say works ok. I did get up into loft to check it all out,as I said this was my in-laws old house, and they always made do with things, very cheap aerial fitted and hanging from roof truss by string, don't laugh,I hadn't realised this, I may get a proper roof mount and better ariel and see how it goes. I'll try it with a y splitter first, and if it's ok buy a good quality splitter to run a second TV off, I am also being pestered for a third TV in a bedroom,I'm resisting at present as I really don't want one, I will make allowance for this though with a suitable splitter / amplifier. I think I may attempt this myself, maybe just get electrician to kit power socket for amplifier,as only power up there is the loft light. Thanks for advice.0

An aerial splitter or amplifier will only require a few watts at most so, unless the regulations state otherwise, you could presumably run it off the existing lighting circuit.
Check with a suitable qualified person or source before proceeding.
Can I put an aerial amplifier on a lighting circuit?0
