My boy have failed his theory test so I told him he needs a highway code book but is it best to get one by DVSA or AA. I've read some reviews on both books and I don't believe they are true as someone is saying they passed their driving test in 1962 and not read the highway code in many years so they bought the book so they could up date their knowledge

I don't think you can go wrong by getting the official DVSA version.0

I passed my theory without reading the highway code 4-5 years ago. I kept putting the test back and then one day in work I realised I had forgot to put it back and so had to just do the exam in the afternoon...On a side note, it also meant I got out of work early
But I had been around drivers a lot, my grandad when I was a kid used to ask me what signs on the road meant. I think he did it more to make sure I knew not to run across the road etc, but something must have sunk in. I would drive around with your son and ask them about signs and what the speed limit is in certain areas. I tend to find I learn better by doing rather than reading.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Why buy anything bar the genuine one?

Not that you actually NEED to buy it these days...

Tell him to read the official Highway Code.
Look for sample questions from the Theory Test. There are plenty of on line sites that let you take sample theory tests Doc.0 -
Or should he buy a theory test book, it will have all the questions and the answers.
He can do the test online for free, as often as he wants, to practice.0 -

No, it won't. The DVSA stopped publishing the actual test questions several years ago.0 -

Before 2012 (ish) the DVLA used to publish the actual test questions. There were about 1,000 questions from which 50 were used at random for each test.
They realised that this was a braindead idea, and now publish "sample" questions instead. The idea is to encourage people to actually read and understand the HC (and "Driving - the Essential Skills") rather than simply keep trying mock tests.0 -

I can assure you, that the 'sample' questions as the ones in the test.0 -
