Royal Mail Small Parcel Boxes .. Where can I buy

Options
Do users here have any good suppliers for Royal Mail small parcel sizes boxes

45cm x 35cm x 16cm is the maximum size, so I suppose I am looking for boxes just slightly smaller, just to be safe.

I know you can buy them at the Post Office, but the price there is ridiculous.

In the past I have just looked around the supermarkets for suitable boxes, but that can take quite a lot of time, especially if you suddenly need 2 or 3 at a time.

If I can buy 20 or so online, at least I'll have some in reserve.

thank you

  • Search on ebay for "small parcel box".
  • Check your local yellow pages for a packaging supplier. I buy mine locally and get my bubble wrap and tape from them as well

    Mega expensive though.

I but mine on ebay in batches of 100 and for a smaller box rarely pay more than 16-18p a box.

Be careful if you are going close to the maximum size as traditionally packing boxes are offered with interior dimensions. You don't want to end up with dozens of boxes that are slightly too big.

Ask in any supermarket, DIY store or anywhere else where a shop has a high turnover of goods. Some (e.g. Homebase) have a pile of them for customers to help themselves; others are more than happy to give you boxes to take away - all they do otherwise is flatten and bin them.

The problem with using shop boxes is that it is difficult to find one with the smaller side to comply with the small parcel requirement.

Supermarkets are often the best bet for smaller boxes - ditto chemists, because many items are not very tall and only packed in single layers, which means you get one side which meets the requirement for being a small parcel (ditto Hermes if you are sending a parcel up to 2kg).

Our local Sainsburys has a space where they put boxes to take but I found lately Pound Shops and Home Bargains often have smaller boxes which fit well within small parcel sizes and are happy for you take them if you ask.
