Food restrictions at Gatwick?

I know about the 100ml liquid rule, but I'm unclear on the situation with regard to food. I'm travelling with 3 kids under 5 so I had wanted to take pringles, fruit bars and nuts. Will there be any issues with this? Do I need to unwrap the stuff and put it into plastic bags?
Any advice will be gratefully received. Thanks!

These will not be a problem, and can stay out of sight in your hand luggage. It will get scanned of course. If you are going to the states eat it before you get there.
To make life easier don't wear a belt, and wear shoes not boots.0 -
The only food you can’t take are “semi-liquids” (like yoghurt), things that need to be eaten with a spoon.0

When we went to Greece in July my daughter had the most room in her bag so she ended up with 2 tubes of pringles and 2 packets of cashew nuts.
Going through security she got called over to have her bag searched.
It turned out that she had a tiny nail varnish in the bottom of her bag that she didn't realise was there.
She was petrified. The security man asked her who the cashew nuts belonged to.
She said 'they're mums, not mine' thinking she was going to get told off.
He said 'oh, she wont share then will she. I thought you might want to give me a packet cos they're my favourites'
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -
Quakers its good to hear that the security guards have a sense of humour! Funnily enough the nuts we are taking are cashews too- my kids favourite
