Refused refund Victorian Plumbing

Hi,
I purchased a sink waste online upon receipt realised I had purchesed the wrong item. I had opened the item but returned it within the timeframe in the box it came in.
Victorian plumbing refused the refund as they say that the item is damaged (either by me or in transit) they refused the return but kept the item stating I needed to claim through Royal Mail. They have sent pictures of the apparent damage to the waste but not of the packaging.

I did pay to insure the item with Royal Mail so could potentially Claim via them. Where do I stand in this?

Any advice appreciated.

Did your packaging meet RMs guidlines?
