Hiya!
I haven't been posting in this thread since I have 2 other anime bargain threads and this, at the time, was the least active.

There have been lots of ADV sales (£1-£2) and Anime-On-Line 99p-£1.99 since I last posted, plus others from normal stores.
The latest ADV sale started today, most of the stuff included being £4-4.99. However, it does include the highly rated 4 volume series 'Yugo the Negotiator; for £2 per volume.Myself wrote:Gah, I hate being right...

The only stuff worth ordering are the Yugo DVD's 1-4 at £2 each. Aside from the extremely poorly rated Gravion, everything else is £4+, including Gilgamesh.
These ADV sales will now turn into £4-4.99 sales with 1-4 week deliveries. I can't blame ADV in truth, they were giving away DVD's in the past and can't really keep it, but it's still disappointing as **** when I was expecting to get Vol. 1-7 of Gilgamesh for £2 each.
On the brightside, Yugo is meant to be both something good and a little different. I've wanted to watch it ever since seeing the trailer on my ADV DVD's.

Also, most of the original 99p stuff in the now old Anime-On-Line cheap section are still 99p: http://www.anime-on-line.com/xcart/home.php?cat=7&sort=price&sort_direction=0
It's also well worth ordering Requiem From The Darkness for £1.99.0 -

Not much has happened in terms of anime bargains apart from the above since my last post...
- Anime-On-Line added Vol. 1 & 2 of 'Oh My Goddess' to the cheap section, originally at 99p each and now £1.99 each.
- ADV have another sale up. Nothing worth mentioning this time since ADV have stopped giving away cheap DVD's, instead putting over-priced stuff into a list and calling it a sale.0 -
I LOVE THIS POST!!!

TaA smile and manners doesnt cost any thing0 -
Q1: I don't know, I haven't been keeping up with anime of late. Google would be able to help you more than me - Sorry!
Q2: Girly anime isn't something I know a lot about. :P KGNE (Rumbling Hearts) is the most girly I've watched, but it's most certainly not funny.
Gunslinger Girl: The Complete Collection - £18.97
(I've seen this in the shops and it's excellent value for money - All 3 normal sized volumes in a box.)
Elfen Lied: The Complete Collection - £21.95
(Finally, this set has dropped to a decent price!)0 -
Hi,
Sorry to post on this thread - but wondered if anyone here could help - my daughter is nearly 15 and obsessed with anime (including books, drawings & art-books etc).
I would love to buy something for christmas as a surprise for her but have no idea what to get - she had quite a lot of anime and manga over the last two xmas - lots of Ghibli (Howls, Totoro, Spirited Away, My neighbour etc) and also the Witch Hunter Robin series and the Deathnote films. (Manga books have included - Hack, Deathnote, Love Hina, Clamp, Dragonball, Naruto, One-piece).
She has on her xmas list this year - The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya, and manga books some more Deathnote, Gothic? something. She seems to have a broad interest in what she likes - but wondered if there are any 'must haves' for anime fans that I could get her.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks once again.0 -
Death Note (the anime series) has recently started coming out on DVD in America - I believe the first 2 volumes (there are also 2 special edition) are out. Since she has the DN films and obviously has a region free DVD player/drive, you might want to look into getting her the first 2 volumes as I'm sure she'd love that.
DVD Pacific are probably the best store for importers - Very reliable. They aren't customs friendly, but they do only declare the value of the item excluding shipping costs. You do have to be careful when ordering more than one item at once since they combine them and declare the full value, which isn't a good thing when the UK customs limit is £18.

There are also a fair few Anime Legends sets (popular series sold in a budget sets) available for you to import from America for very little. I'd recommend Scrapped Princess out of all the Anime Legends sets - It has a female lead, great humour, a very serious side and likeable characters...the sort of thing either sex would enjoy.
If money is no object and you just want to go for a safe bet, Fullmetal Alchemist is the series I'd recommend you go for. Just about everyone loves FMA, it's hard to dislike it since it has a bit for everyone and does everything so well. It's out in 13 separate volumes over here (there's also a movie that continues where the anime ends) and is currently being released in 4 box sets in America, 2 of which I believe are currently out.
The other recommendation I'd give (based on the quality alone) is this: http://www.find-dvd.co.uk/DSX300.htm
Samurai X: Trust & Betrayal (included in the deluxe collection linked to above) are rated #1 out of 200 on the animnfo list, FMA just behind.
Talking of which, you might simply want to sneak into her room when she's out, see what anime she has and look here for similar stuff: http://www.animenfo.com/statistic/top.php?type=anime0 -
