Hi folks,
Me and a friend are off to see keane at the brixton academy on 1st november and i could do with a recommendation for a cheap hotel.
I've looked for london hotels but being a thick northerner i've no idea of where is close to where in london and haven't a clue about what times buses and tubes run till.
Can anyone recommend somewhere either close by or with good public transport links at approx 11pm on a thursday evening.
Cheers!

Leigham Court Hotel

If pushed, I might go for the Pasha.
The New Dome location is marginally better, but the rooms look pitiful.
If I were in your shoes, I would plump for a hostel here: http://www.st-christophers.co.uk/london-hostels/london/london-bridge
Choose any of the Borough Road locations. That way, you'll probably have some people with whom to socialise. You'll save money, plus the venue is easily accessible by bus.
No problems getting too and fro at any time.0 -
I've stayed at that hostel before and whilst i have no worries staying there when on my own - lets just say me and my friend would like a bit of privacy

The Brixton Academy isjusta round the corner from Brixton tube.
Gigs that I have been to there usually finish at 10:30pm so you'll have plenty of time to get to most areas of London on the tube.
I'd suggest staying a little further away as you'll increase your choice of places to stay.
Use the journey planner on https://www.tfl.gov.uk to work out how long it takes to get to/from Brixton.0 -
I would also recommend you leave Brixton, it's not known for it's choice hotels, find a travelodge, you have plenty of time to get to one after the gig

The Leigham Court Hotel? Have you ever been there?! Streatham isn't exactly a destination!
Personally, I'd opt for something like the Days Inn Waterloo which is a bit more Kennington than Waterloo but you can catch any of the buses heading towards Westminster from Brixton Road and they will drop you at the door, pretty much. There's a night bus too, so you're not restricted on time if you want to stay later. Then you are also nearer to the West End if you want to go anywhere around there during the day.

I've booked the brand new travelodge on City Road for my next visit to London, primarily because although I want cheap, I want modern and clean also
. It's on the Northern Line - it wouldn't be too hard to walk up to Stockwell tube from the Academy.
There's a fab Japanese restaurant called Fujiyama in Brixton, most cheap. I really miss it!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

thanksfor the suggestion doozergirl but the days inn looks bloody pricey - £129 a night!!!! I can organise a full weekend away in europe for less than that inculding flights!

There is probably a bus http://journeyplanner.tfl.gov.uk/user/XSLT_TRIP_REQUEST2?language=enPosts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
further to this post has anyone ever stayed at http://www.victoriastationhotel.co.uk ?
Location is very suitable and price is good but is it a flea pit?Cover me in honey and fling me to the hermaphrodites!0 -
I'd agree with others, there is no need to stay in Brixton, or Streatham. Brixton is well connected by Tube and bus, including night buses, so stay elsewhere and travel to it.
I'd recommend trying https://www.hotelscomparison.com and type in something like Victoria, London and you will find loads of results, even under £60 for that area and wider.
The Battersea Travelodge you mention would be a reliable, clean option though you would need to get a bus as its not on the tube. However it would only take about 15 minutes. The number 345 runs every 10 minutes until 00.09 from Brixton to Clapham Junction and from there the travelodge is a few minutes walk.

Stay in the West End: http://www.yha.org.uk/find-accommodation/london/hostels/london-oxford-street/index.aspx
You'll have to call to book.0
