Faulty Electronics

Back in October 2016 I bought 3 10" tablets as Christmas present for my 2 children and my mother-in-law. I bought them from Fusion5 via the Amazon market place using a credit card.
I checked them when they arrived and all seemed well.
The kids were delighted on Christmas Day to get a new tablet each but my son's had developed a faulty screen within 24 hours and we contacted the vendors and returned the faulty tablet and it was replaced in early January.
Now in November the replaced tablet no longer holds a charge, I have tested the charger and it works fine on all other equipment. The tablet starts up says the battery is full then shuts down after a few minutes and says the battery is drained.
I contacted Fusion5 and they have told me they don't know what the problem is but there will be a minimum charge of £22 to look at it.
I responded explaining that although the warranty did expire in October, the tablet was replaced in January after a previous fault.
Their response was to say the warranty does not extend just because a unit is replaced.
I wrote back stating I was disappointed and that they should be embarrassed that 2 of their units have failed within 1 year of issue. I have since heard nothing except when I chased a response I got the same cut and paste email about not knowing what the fault was and it costing £22 to look at.
So do I have any recourse?

Obviously warrenty's do not restart as that is open to abuse.
To your problem. Batterys are generally regarded as consumable items and as such after the warrenty you are unlikely to get any help.
Things that are bad for batterys are. Running right down, and especially leaving like that. modern batterys should be charged as often as possible.
Good comapnies might give you good will but this is why I don't buy anything of value from market palce sellers. Cheap tat that will quickly fail and usually priced as such.0 -

You would be better trying to claim using consumer rights, name the Consumer Rights Act 2015. However you would need to get a independent report that the fault was inherent, i.e. it was present when you purchased the item. This may not be easy to achieve, as batteries are often deemed "wear and tear" items which are expected to fail.0
