Doing my own stamp duty return

Following yesterday's budget announcement, I am luckily no longer liable for any stamp duty! :T
I am due to complete in January 2018, however my solicitor has said they will still charge £100 to do my stamp duty return for me!?
I'm not happy with this, as there is nothing to really be done. And having had a look online it seems I simply add a number onto a website here https://www.tax.service.gov.uk/pay-online/stamp-duty
Can anyone confirm if this is the process?
I won't be paying £100 to a solicitor to do something I could so easily do myself. Especially now that no funds are even payable or required, I'll keep the stamp duty and the £100 fee they'd like to charge, thanks! :money:

No, that's the page for making payment after you've submitted your SDLT return and got the acknowledgement number. You will still require to complete and submit the return - the fact you are due to pay zero doesn't really shortcut the process.I'm not happy with this, as there is nothing to really be done. And if you are buying with a mortgage then your lender will probably require that your solicitor is in charge of submitting the SDLT return.0
