Chances are the repair will work or just redrill the poly fill out and glues some wood in.0 -
I wonder if its the very old lathe and plaster, can't think what other thin stud could be there. Is it an older property - say 1930's or earlier?
You could always drill out the filler (easy) and fill the hole with plugging compound that sets rock hard. Something like this ...Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0 -

The former would be an extremely heavy and thick wall. Modern stud & plasterboard walls can be very thin and flimsy - You can even get plasterboard with a honeycomb cardboard core (about 50mm thick as I recall) for quick & simple partitions.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –
