O/S Daily Thursday 23rd November 2017
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH and myself up and enjoying first peaceful cuppas, he has today and tomorrow off using up some holidays. DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was a not so healthy egg, bacon, chips and beans, all eaten and enjoyed. Tonight I'm not sure as DH and myself are supposed to be going out, but have had a bit of a nightmare with tickets, all a long story but I'm not at all happy and won't settle until we're at the venue.
This week has been spoilt by the nightmare trying to sort the tickets for the event tonight - wouldn't be so bad but they were booked and paid for in October 2016 and I've spent the last 4 weeks chasing my tickets! I haven't achieved as much this week as I'd hoped too, but know to do things differently next time!
Tomorrow DH and I are going xmas shopping, lunch out then on to see his grandad who lives a little way from where we're going shopping. Hoping that will break the back of the shopping as at the moment I've done nothing as far as buying prezzies. I'll be heading out shortly to the local town to visit bank and building society.
Keep safe and well x

Good Morning all an early night helped me no end after my day yesterday.

Morning all
We had such a stormy night the wind and rain pounding on the window was fierce ! I should imagine there is some damage out there this morning, Typically OH slept through the lot !
Off to work for me day four of eight  Ive got a really long week this week but the pay off is next week where I am only working Monday, I have the rest of the week off and we are fitting the kitchen :j cant wait to get it done actually the chaos in the rest of the house already is doing my head in !
Something and chips for dinner tonight so nice and easy. I need to put a wash on with work t-shirts to get me through the rest of the week.
Right better get going have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone
Judi I hope that your son gets his money back quickly. It is really worrying when this happens.
It was a fairly windy night here, and I kept waking up because of the noise. I was pleased that I had thought to get the rubbish and recycling bins into the shed yesterday afternoon.
My niece is staying tonight as she is going out to a night club in town for one of her friend’s birthday tonight and doesn’t like to get a taxi back to the town they live in on her own. I don’t mind having here when she is going out, she is always considerate and I never hear her coming in. She will probably go shopping in town on Friday as she has the day off work. I think she is hoping to drag me out for lunch somewhere, but we will see.
I’m having my roots coloured this morning. I was thinking that I will get it trimmed in a couple of weeks. I had a really bad haircut nearly 4 months ago now and it was so short that I have just let it grow but I think that it could do with a trim to tidy it up now.
Hugs to those having a difficult time and struggling.
Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. All is calm and still outside and it remains mild, though they tell us we can expect the cold weather to return tomorrow. We didn't get the wind and rain as bad as some of you by the sound of it.
Being Thursday it is shopping day. After a frugal few weeks I think the list will be a bit longer today and I also want to start popping the odd Xmas item in the trolley too. Freezer and tidy cupboards ready and waiting!
The DGDs are here after swimming for sleepover and tomorrow's school run so I have the customary Pasta Bolognese Bake to make at some point. Mince out and defrosting in readiness.
Welcome back JACKIE you were missed. Now where's TRU she has been MIA for a while. Hope all ok.
I am just awaiting a call from DS to let us know they are back safe and sound after their week in Cape Verde. They were due home in the early hours if flight on time but he said he wouldn't wake me up with a call in the middle of the night!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) as always for those wanting/needing them. Take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning
Survived the dentist yesterday in fact I think I deserve an "I was brave at the dentist" sticker as I managed the treatment without any numbing. Not as bad as it sounds she said it was not near a nerve so it was my choice. She built it all up and put a white filling in very pleased as I expected to lose the tooth completely.
Off to the nurse and doctor soon then its on to Mums for Groundhog shopping and lunch.
Nothing much else today so enjoy your thursday everyone:A0 -
Good morning everyone.
Am down at DM’s again. She was in a bad way after a few days in bed with a cold and cough. Now I’m ‘encouraging’ her to keep drinking as she tends to not bother. She also hadn’t eaten too much so I made something for her and then left a wee pile of sandwiches for her overnight!
On my way down I dropped into a big retail park to return a mobile phone I’d bought. When I was there I bought DM a new Fitbit as the one she’s had for a few years snapped, she likes the heart monitor part because of her AFib. Anyway, it turned into a faff to setup which meant a call to their support team. All sorted now and she’s happy about it.
Apart from that nothing much happening here, thank goodness! Yesterday was extra challenging at work though I think we’ve hit peak stress now with some changes taking place very soon to calm things down.
Now I wish you all a happy Thursday.0 -
Morning all, a chilly, windy morning here but not like last night's howling wind.
Last night I was just about to go to bed when DS announced that he really, really wanted me to make brownies with him. I told him that I could turn my little book open to the correct page (even though the biro is wearing thin) but no, it was essential to use a recipe he'd found on the net and must be done then and there as A Shared Activity. He wanted to sieve flour and cocoa, and was incensed when I told him that I wasn't planning on cleaning up a film of cocoa and it wasn't necessary anyhow. The recipe was quite complex and I've just tried a bit, fine but not as good as my quite simple and foolproof brownie recipe. Also, it took ages and I'm still tired.
Today I have a report to check, meant to be with me yesterday pm, have reminded the person that I'm on leave, if she gets it to me this morning I'll look at it, otherwise not.
Am at peak grumpy, hiss hiss spit.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning everyone,
Thanks for the advice yesterday, what a great little bunch we have here on this daily thread. And Cranky, I'm not dating a bunny boiler, thankfully. I'll be sure to stay well clear of them. The suggestion of some home made baking is good idea. I'll get my thinking cap on.
Apart from football last night, I didn't do too much due to staying late in work. My attempt at Cordon Bleu was ok. Didn't really like the sauce, too much mustard I think.
New recipe tonight of homemade meatballs. Let's see how this pans out.
Nelski - Well done you. I don't think I could do that. Plus you'll have saved cash.
Gers - I bought, on behalf of my mum, new straps for my step-dad's fitbit. Would that be an easier/cheaper option?0
