I can use a Humax to record in advance, but just wondered how widespread the dropping of the ITV hub was over Panasonic tvs, especially one just 2 years old.0

Freetime (peculiar to Panasonic, via an aerial)
Freetime is part of the FreeSat platform - it's the on demand part, and it's the equivalent of Youview on Freeview. Is this what we're talking about or are Panasonic making the naming of this stuff even more confusing than it already is?!!
Anyway, assuming it's Freetime, you're hopefully in luck as it's a big platform, though Colin_Maybe doesn't give much hope. Do you have any links to the info Colin?0 -

To the bit about 2014-15 models? I found it here:
http://downdetector.co.uk/problems/itv (and perhaps other places at the time).
It is Freetime as on Freesat but you can get it through an aerial as well (on Panasonics anyway):

Never noticed before but yes your right its on Freesat but not Freeview.
Luckily i do have twin tuner Freeview and Freesat on a 2013 WT500 series, works but slow to load like Netflix.
For most i cant find anything worth watching on ITV, hence never bothered to see if i can get it.
On Freeview BBC I player shows up, never tried it.0 -
It's definitely Freetime but via an aerial and I believe was first introduced by Panasonic.
It's odd how the ITVhub app they say will stop is working, but the arrows indicating catchup programmes are not working in the Freetime programme guide.0 -

I player seems much better than on a computer; no buffering at all with an internet speed of 5Mbps.
Youtube is better, too, but search is more difficult as you can't put in a search word and get dozens of choices , as on a computer.0 -

Panasonic blame ITV hub and vice versa. I think I agree with the poster who reckons it's ITV's ploy to make us pay for their enhanced hub service, but it's not going to work.
A few years back when we just used a Humax, catchup was rarely used, unless a recording failed for some reason (eg transmission breakdown or a clash because a programme over ran.
Most tvs are smart nowadays but useless if catchup services are pulled after just two years.0 -
yes much better to record them.
And just uses these services if you missed something0 -

I think that would be more accurately described as 'even without a satellite connection, the on demand content still works via internet' - I don't think it goes via aerial.works but slow to load like Netflix.
So that's your internet or WiFi speed, nothing to do with the satellite connection. Netflix is on the net. It's definitely Freetime but via an aerial and I believe was first introduced by Panasonic.
Internet, not aerial. Freetime was on set top boxes (Humax for example) first, but Panasonic were first to build it into TVs.
Looks like you're stuck anyway, if ITV and Panasonic can't agree something.0
