Dear Readers,
I bought a Samsung galaxy s8 on gumtree and the seller said that he would post it too me as he lived in Manchester and I I am Birmingham so I couldn't collect.
I paid him £250 by bank transfer and he messaged me the next day saying he has sent the phone tracked number..
now here we are a month later and I am still waiting for my phone, and he is not replying to my messages.
what can I do please help? will the bank or police help me? I have his bank number and sort code and his name is Donald

Do you have his full name and address?
If all you have is a name of "Donald" then I'm afraid there is little to no hope of seeing your money again.
You can report the issue to Action Fraud online, for what it's worth.
Gumtree is designed to be a face to face (cash on collection/delivery) transaction.0 -
Bank transfer is like posting money in an open envelope.
Once you send it then its gone, your not going to get the phone and unlikely to get your money back.
Police probably wont be interested and the bank wont speak to you either.
Log it on action fraud and tell everyone never use bank transfers to purchase stuff from strangers.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Yea, you have been scammed and your money is gone.
Nothing you can do unless you have the seller's full name and address.
Gumtree is for face to face and cash transactions only.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
