    Update!

I received a cheque today. However I can’t see any names on the cheque - there are two signatures and that’s it it doesn’t say what account it’s come from. It looks like a bankers draft.

Probate still hasn’t been put in motion from the information received from the probate registry.

The cheque has come with a hand written note from my uncle just saying this is from my nan and grandads will. The inheritance money was divided between the grandchildren equally.

Am I right to be concerned I have no idea who the cheque is signed by nor anything else bar a hand written letter. I’d feel more comfortable if this had gone from a solicitor. My uncle has asked me to acknowledge receipt. I’m not sure what to do.

I know there is also a house to be sold, but I have no idea if I’m a art of that, as this would be residual funds I think.

Any advice, should I just accept this money - I am worried it’s not above board. Any ideas on how to respond next.

Appreciate everyone’s comments thus far - very very helpful thank you.

That does sound very unusual, to say the least.
I would be making more enquiries if I were you, perhaps via a solicitor's letter.

Agreed - I’m going to draft a response with my brother and see what we can find out.

I'm a little bit confused here. Have you changed your MSE name OP?
