Faulty goods from Etsy

Hi, I purchased a watch strap on Etsy from a seller in the US. After 3 weeks the strap broke and is now unuseable. I contacted the seller via Etsy & they told me I could get it repaired myself. After some dispute they agreed to repair it but I have to return it to the US myself. I tried using Etsy's dispute process but because I wore the bracelet for 3 weeks they say they cannot help. Based on the design I believe if it's repaired the strap will just break again so I want a refund. I've read the consumer rights info on here, and it seems if I had purchased from a UK seller I would be have to refund me, but does anyone know if my rights are affected because they are a US seller?

Thanks for any suggestions.
Kim

Yes they are affected, you realistically have no rights unless you go to the USA.
From what I gather the USA have no real consumer rights and rely on warranties, and even then each state is different, when the warranty is up there is no other rights they can rely on. So the terms of the warranty are what you go by.

Let's assume that as a new user they don't know the answer.

No, but we're being nice to a new user and assuming they're asking the question because they don't know the answer.
