Hi,
Im trying to plumb in a dishwasher and washing machine to the same water outlet and waste trap. I have purchased a brass Y piece and McAlpine V33WM Twin Connector.
I cant find instructions or a video on how to do this, can anyone talk me through it?
http://prntscr.com/hdua29
DO i need to remove number 1 in the pic? the bottom of the twin connector is the exact same size as number 1, so im assuming it replaces it. Do i need to get a new no.2 also?
eta: the trap on screwfix had some extra bits than the one I bought on amazon.... https://www.screwfix.com/p/mcalpine-appliance-trap-40mm-white/95241?kpid=95241&cm_mmc=Google-_-Product%20Listing%20Ads-_-Sales%20Tracking-_-sales%20tracking%20url&cm_mmc=Google-_-Shopping%20-%20Plumbing-_-Shopping%20-%20Plumbing&gclid=CKiDl6WewscCFY6RGwodgVgDMw&kpid=95241

the V33M should fit on the downpipe.
unscrew the compression joint, put the bit you take off and the rubber
washer (the right way round) onto the downpipe about an inch from the top.
push the V33M onto the downpipe, push the washer and nut up to the threads and tighten.
I think you have a more complicated problem though, I would be happier if the downpipe top was much lower than the sockets just to avoid the potential of getting them wet if one of the pipes were to come off. Probably just me though.0 -
the downpipe and v33m appear to be exactly the same width so it wont fit on (see pic below)

can you get a telescopic downpipe piece? i may have to go into screwfix tomorrow and embarass myself
eta: this is for a 40mm pipe and mine is 32 mm so that why it doesnt fit lol0 -
Could this help me out? https://www.screwfix.com/p/floplast-wc38-universal-compression-waste-reducer-white-40mm-x-32mm/690770

Simple way - just squish both outlet pipes down your standpipe.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

On the other hand, I prefer the Screwfix one as it comes with a u-bend which stops nasty smells from the drain entering your dish washer or washing machine.tentickles666 wrote: »Hi,
