PPI money goes into my bank account without my consent

Hi everyone,
I made a PPI mortgage claim about six weeks ago by using the Plevin act. I received a response about two weeks ago to say my complaint was still being investigated. I checked my bank account today and £2k had gone in. I rang the mortgage lender and they confirmed it was them and genuine. I explained i didn't receive any notification of my claim being accepted, nor had i accepted the amount offered. I was advised they got my acceptance slip and subsequently paid the funds into my account. They said they wouldnt have paid the amount in without my agreement of the amount offered, as i could decline and escalate to FOS. I confirmed I had not received any notification or slip. I was advised a confirmation letter of the payment was sent yesterday so i should receive this tomorrow.
I have transferred the money into my savings account for the time being and won't spend any of it in case its an error. However, they confirmed my PPI ref and personal details were correct. Anyone else experienced this?
Thanks

Faster payments system means you often get the money in your account days before you actually receive the letter in the post.
As the plevin issue is not one where you accept/decline or escalate to the FOS, the auto payment is quite normal.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Well, I wish someone would put £2k into my bank account without my knowing. I don't think I'd be complaining.
Of course, if you don't want it...0
