Help please, query with WFTC

This is probably a daft question and may have been asked before so apologies if already done:rolleyes:

I started a part time job last week at a local primary school only working 1hr 15 mins each day mon-friday. As this job is under 16hours per week will it affect my WFTC award? and do i need to notify WFTC people that i am now working even though its under 16 hours?

You (or your partner) need to be working a minimum of 16hrs per week to qualify for WTC - CTC is dependent on you working.
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.
  • Thanks for your reply CIS - i probably didn't explain properly in OP. My OH works full time 40hours per week and my job is the first job i have had in 5yrs. So just wondering as my job is under 16hours will it affect our current award?

If my wife was to get a part time job with the same hours like the op, how would it effect our benefits?
Have you got a job yet?

    NO? Then :shhh:

It is polite to start a new thread, rather than taking over someone elses.

You getting a job may affect your claim on the basis of extra income, you need to inform the Tax Credits Office ASAP and supply them with an estimate of your entire income expected for this year - once they have that they can make any adjustments.

Your award wont go up but it may not drop either.

They may calculate it out and recover any overpayment from next year's award
